Fun Things

Among the things I'm planning in coming weeks...
I'm thinking about my mom and late-dad right now, and about the music they played around our house when I was a kid -- back in the 1940's.  Most of their music was tied to World War II back then, or about couples being separated by the war.  Anyway, I want to devote a block of time -- maybe like about an hour on a Monday night, that would be just for that generation.
My generation had it's own war time period, too, although the song themes were often quite a lot different.  For sure, the Vietnam Conflict sparked some nice love songs, but that was also a period for lots of protests songs.  I'm thinking about a different night of the week for this, perhaps on either Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
I'm thinking Friday nights will feature slow dancing.  Ya, with the kind of music the DJs played near the end of the night at the teenage dances I attended.
Saturday nights will be for fast stuff and cruisin'.
Trust me, that I'll have a lot more going on, and a lot more times each week for themed types of music.  I'll keep on thinking, and I'll also be looking forward to listener suggestions.  So, write me, huh?

Growing up outside of Boston, MA during the 1950's and 60's, WMEX was the most popular radio station for teens, and perhaps the most popular DJ was Arnie "Woo Woo" Ginsberg.  What made Arnie popular -- besides the great music -- was his ability to make a few hours of listening fun.

So, while this gives me at least a few ideas for future Friday and Saturday night programming, I'd love to hear about your memories from other parts of the world.  Just use a comment box below, and let me know what you think.
